The Battle of Trafalgar

*

Epic screenplay depicting the greatest naval battle in British history and the extraordinary political events leading up to it. Originally commissioned by Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, the producers of the James Bond films, the film was eventually cancelled due to the great costs of production in those days. In modern times the battle scenes can be done largely with digital effects which greatly reduces the costs, and the script was subsequently taken up by a group of independent producers who approached the BBC for a coproduction in the year 2005, the bicentenary of the battle. After much consideration the BBC rejected the idea in favour of spending the money on Jonathan Ross’s salary! This remarkable event in British history, which lead to the death of our greatest naval hero and the eventual defeat of Napoleon, has therefore still to reach the big screen.
